Perennial Stream

Synopsis

Perennial Stream is a portrayal of growth and decay. It is done on a single sheet of paper. Graphite marks are drawn, erased, then re-drawn, leaving behind a map of remains. A single, drawn line acts as a seed, which then propagates into larger forms, gathering to create a cyclic flow of movement and stillness within an abstracted ecosystem.

Sonnye Lim

Sonnye Lim (b. 1991) is a Korean-American animator and artist born in Queens, New York. Her work celebrates nature - something that is wild and unabashed for what it is, in both its form and essence. The moving image can be a mirror to natural things as means to understand life and decay - a continuous motion that moves forward; sometimes cyclic, and sometimes not. Sonnye hopes to continue conveying this idea in her future works as she explores and build new contexts for herself as an artist.
